Construction Supply Chain at Bacton Energy Hub

Bacton Gas Terminal has been undergoing a considerable transition into an energy hub on the North Norfolk coast. Supplying a large portion of the UK’s gas requirement for over 50 years, the site will now be focused on alternative energy production, including blue and green hydrogen as well as carbon capture and storage.

Construction waste removal before concrete mixes and aggregates

MCM have been working with the main contractor on site since May 2025 and continue into 2026. The MCM project team have been working with the site managers at Bacton and the procurement teams to ensure the swift and efficient supply of muck and concrete away services, fresh concrete mixes, 20mm shingle and Type 1 aggregates.

Supporting the client on site

Part of the facility upgrades on site include the construction of new offices and welfare facilities, as well as parking and hard-standing. In preparation for this, MCM have been working to a tight programme of construction waste removal, using their trusted contractor network.

At the heart of this strong contractor and supply chain management bond has been clear and honest communication. The team have had to contend with quick turnarounds on orders, often at short notice. Early morning and weekend deliveries have been arranged to avoid programme delays and the MCM technical team have been available for product guidance, selection and support throughout, on site and by phone.

Strong collaboration

The contractor and site teams have been complimentary in their feedback, noting MCM’s commitment to building a strong relationship, providing a rapid response and the importance of having a designated Project Manager within the team for continuity and reinforced trust.

Ongoing and Future Plans

Central to the success of the ongoing supply relationship, MCM continues to support the site teams at Bacton, monitoring programmes and remaining flexible to respond quickly as the site schedule evolves.
